Sunday’s Best: Mastermind

Lately, I’ve been thinking about creating a mastermind group. A group of folks that I can call my advisory board. People who share similar values, yet offer a different perspective on life, business, design, patterns, history, and productivity.

I’m interested in surrounding myself with others who like to discuss ideas and who can offer insight based on their observations, their experiences, their research, and their own results.

As I continue to grow, I need to others to help me at every phase in my lives. I can act like I can do it alone, but there’s no pretending. Even with all my ideas, however (non) original it may be, I still need strategies and others who can help me to implement best practices. Because people have done it before, I should not have to blaze a trail when a template has been produced.

On another note, yesterday was one those days where I had to grab both my coat and my shades, courtesy of Sunglasses Shop.  After church, I headed to a charming resale shop, Eve’s Apple Vintage, to peruse their new items.

I did not purchase anything, but it was a good opportunity to take a brisk walk and to get kissed by the sun.

  1. I recently heard the term Mastermind group from one of the ministers at my former church in St. Louis. While I was home for Christmas, he approached me about being in this group. He wanted to have me on standby in case he had a legal question. I’ve definitely thought about “formally” forming one, but informally, I already have a group of people that I bounce things off. I guess I just need a formal group.

    • Sounds like he wanted you to be part of an official board. When I think of mastermind, I think of a group of peers who are working towards a similar goals and just like you said, who bounce ideas off each others. But, in a mastermind people offer valuable feedback.

  2. I truly enjoy your blog because I feel like it’s a reflection of me and my ideals. From being fit, to natural remedies, to recognizing the value of being a ‘lady’ (thanks to my old school Jamaican mother who believed in etiquette). I don’t know if you are interested in folks from other parts of the world, but if you are please sign me up.

    Love from Toronto!
